A quick thought and question

So I have a quick story and then I want your opinions.

Yesterday I went to work and picked up one of my little kiddos from Kindergarten to do his speech time. We were talking in the hallway...this is our conversation...
(his name will be changed to T.V. for his protection...

Me: T.V. how are you doing today?
TV: Mrs. Rankin I don't feel good today.
Me: Oh what's wrong?
TV: I throwed up this morning a lot and my mommy made me come to school.
Me: This morning?
TV: Yeah as soon as I woked up.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! What about all the other kids in the class. The only thing I can think is if she really just had to go to work and had no other choice but to bring him to school. What was she thinking?

Have any of you (with children) ever done this? What do you soon to be mothers think? Even if you really just couldn't find any where else for your child to go? Just curious if I am just overly concerned about this. Let me know your thoughts.

i think its funny how you changed his name to tv.. but yeah, that's pretty bad and i'm glad my mom never made us do that.. we could've stayed home alone and had her check up on us at lunch probably if worse came to worse.

Well lets see... Joel had fallen off his bike and skinned his arm, the next day at school he told his teacher he was attacked by a bear when he went hunting with his dad (he has never been hunting). When the teacher came to me with concern, I said... you should hear what he tells me about school! To say the least she learned very quickly that Joel has a great imagination, and the more questions you ask the better the story gets. Now Landon on the other hand he tells the truth and nothing but the truth! He is so bad that if you are telling a story and you miss one little part he will correct you. So is this child like Joel or Landon? If he is like Landon I think that is so sad, and wrong that a mom would send a child to school sick:-( If he is like Joel, I am sure this is only the beginning of many things he will tell you that will shock you and cause you concern! LOL

I wonder why she sent him to school sick!? Mabye she didn't realize that he was as sick as he was or maybe she thought he was making it up?! The women with kids at my work usually either bring the kiddo to work with them when they are sick (and have them lay down in the "sick room") or they work from home that day.

I'd have to say I'm a very lucky mom who has 2 girls who are hardly ever sick and Britt is almost finished with her 2nd year of perfect attendance. BUT if she were throwing up and was not feeling well I'd have to say I wouldn't send her on to school. I'd keep her home. I don't know the reason she'd send T.V. to school that way, but everyone is different..... Something we find sensible might be crazy to someone else.

My thought is, if you throw up, you stay home! Even if you threw up the night before...you stay home. If you send a child to school with a potential virus, then you have exposed an entire class, or even an entire school. Work can be done from home. I am blown away by what moms send their kids to school with.

heck no!! leave them home...shoot my kids stay home someitmes just because!! I know, I can just hear you all say Lyla how dumb but sometimes kids just need a break from school even when their NOT sick...its like us as adults who just need a break from work every now and again...so yeah my answer would be leave the sick kid at home!! or just give the kid a break sometimes...

I totally agree with Stephanie. My first thought was, hmmm, you can't always believe everything kids say. He could have gotten mixed up. For ex., it took me awhile to figure this out, but William says "except" when he means "especially." Time is very hard for kids to grasp, at least mine anyway. "This morning" could have been yesterday morning or even 2 mornings ago. I can't imagine someone actually sending their kid to school who has been throwing up a lot. But who knows--very few things surprise me anymore!!

I wouldn't be surprised at all if his mom sent him to school sick. Yes, kids make up things sometimes or get stuff mixed up, BUT I worked in a day care and I was amazed at how many parents sent their sick kids in. There was one little girl who threw up in class one day. We called her parents and they said they'd be there to get her. They didn't show up until the end of the day. I could tell she was sick by the way she was acting. The next day she came back (I was surprised since she looked awful) and threw up within the first hour of being there. We called her parents...one didn't answer and the other one said they would be there as soon as some meeting ended. Well, she threw about 4 more times that day and had a fever and was one of the last kids to leave. Remember...we called her parents that morning! She didn't go home until 6:30. Not that you wanted to know all that, but this bothers me still and it's been three years since then. So, yeah...not surprised at all.

I had a kid throw up in my class so I sent her to call her mom. Moms are suppose to drop what they are doing and pick up their kid, right? Nope, this mom says "I'm off to work in a few minutes. You'll just have to stay at school for the rest of the day." I couldn't believe it!!

Well the reason I believed this kid is because of stories like Laura and Ashlyn! I worked at a family camp 2 summers ago with babies 0-2 years old. I had babies throw up all over me and we would call their parents to come get them. Keep in mind they are all at this family camp together for "family" time only like 30 seconds away and they wouldn't come get their babies. That is why I believe this child!
