Little Miss Prima Donna

So today Mackenzie has proven that she really is a Prima Donna!!!

She was having a lot of problems with nursing...as was mentioned in one of the last blogs. We were syringe feeding her so that she would get her nutrition. She would lay back with her arms up by her head enjoying the milk being basically poured down her throat. This was not working for mommy and daddy! So we decided it was time to visit a lactation clinic through the hospital to see if there was anything else I could do to get her to actually nurse properly!

Come to find out....all Mackenzie needed was a private lesson. It took her no longer than about 10 seconds to figure out what to do. She just wanted mommy to spend a little time and MORE money on her to make her feel special, because we haven't done enough already.

She is doing great now and we are working hard to continue to teach her. We really are glad that we went because it helped her to figure things out. She even ate more in the hour of "lessons" than she has at any feeding so far. We are hoping she continues to gain weight and grow like she is supposed to.

One more thing...

Tonight Nana Joy took us out to Outback to celebrate Mackenzie's 1 week birthday. This is a family tradition for the Reeses. We always go to eat at Outback for our birthdays!!!

She has expensive taste at a very young age!

This is Katie's (my sister-in-law) Mom. We went to their home on Sunday for dinner! Thanks for the yummy food! This was our first outing, except going back to the hospital to get Mackenzie's bilirubin levels checked.

Pamela and Katie....I just wanted to mention....THANK YOU for the cute strawberry outfit (Aunt Pam) and pink headband (Aunt Katie) in the above pictures!

I applaud your efforts to get her to nurse right. Emma and William were such perfect little nursers from the very beginning. So I thought it would be easy when #3 came along...oh no...Miss Julia didn't want to do it; I just had to pump and give it to her in a bottle for about 2 months. Then after I had just about given up, she woke up one morning and decided to do it right. What a headache. I can definitely sympathize. We saw many lactation specialists with her. She was just stubborn and did it when she wanted to. They're all different! Very cute in pink, btw! She looks just like you!

Congratulations on the new accomplishment! Seriously life can be very frustrating when they won't nurse or are struggling to get it right. I know, been there! I love how she always has some kind of bow in, adorable!

When are you going to add some video attachments? I am happy that you are doing well and that life is rolling along.

I haven't taken any videos...She doesn't do anything fun yet. She eats, sleeps, and poops....what do you want me to video tape? I promise I will when she starts smiling or making noises, etc!!! I PROMISE!
